He was 80 years old.
He is survived by his two sons Joseph (Joey) Allen Phillips, Jr., and his wife Glenda and Christopher (Chris) Allen Phillips and his wife Virginia. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Kate (Katie) Phillips Parrish and her husband Dakota, Ty Phillips and his wife Ana, Benjamin Phillips, Piper Celeste Phillips, six great-grandchildren six great-grandchildren Paris, Rowan,and Knox Seay, William and Wyatt Parrish, Waylon Phillips, sister-in-law Catherine (Cathy) Betz Green, brother-in-law Buster Betz and his wife Lane, nieces Lynn Green McGlaughn and her husband Butch, Carrie Green Gamblin and her husband Jay, Paula Wood Reynolds, Pamela Wood Cash and her husband Greg, Patti Wood Barnes, great-niece Allison McGlaughn, and countless friends who can only smile with affection when they recall him.
Joe was a faithful Christian. He was an adoring husband to his wife of 51 years, Susan, who died Sunday, September 22, 2024, from injuries sustained in the above-mentioned automobile accident. His greatest earthly treasure was his family. He was an exemplary father to his sons. Joe was a loyal and devoted employee and friend. Loved by all who knew him, he will be missed.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel. Visitation will precede the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
