John was born June 24,1942 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kosciusko. He graduated from Kosciusko High School in 1960.He went on to Mississippi State University, graduating with a Degree in Bachelor of Arts.
John joined the United States Marine Corp in Quantico as a Lieutenant. He served in Vietnam for 4 years as a Captain. He then joined the Orange County Fire Department in San Clemente, California, retiring at Station 45 Rancho Santa Margarita California in 1995 with the rank of Captain.
John enjoyed living to the fullest, traveling many times to out of the way places was his favorite past time. He was a quiet man, a reader of all books and worked out at the gym regularly. He touched so many lives in his journey and made many friends. John was a Vietnam Veteran, Firefighter, ballroom dancer, country western dancer, school bus driver and bowler. Loved playing cards with his buddies and going to the shooting range.
John leaves his wife Sally of 29 years; son, Chad & Carol Lane; brother, Charles & Dolores Lane; father-in-law, Everett Douglas; sister-in-law, Susan Bendixen & Craig Jillson; 3 Nieces and their families, several cousins and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James (Jelly) & Janie Lane; brother, Ralph, mother-in-law, Violet Douglas, grandmother-in-law, Ocie May McKeehan; and his fur baby, Annie Louise.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Guenther, Norm Dasinger, David Reeves and Steve Scharfenberg.
