Doug was born on April 17, 1942, in Gadsden. He graduated from Etowah High School in 1960 and also married Gail Duke in 1960. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963 and has lived in Glencoe since 1966. Doug loved Alabama Football, traveling, cooking, reading, square dancing, and a trip to the casino with his buddies. He treasured life, family, and friends.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Edward and Irene Smith Jenkins; wife, Gail Duke Jenkins; daughter, Lori Ann Jenkins; and son, Charles ‘Chuck’ Jenkins.
He is survived by his sister, Gail (Larry) Jenkins-Chunnand; brother, Steve (Charolette) Jenkins; two sons, John ‘Mike’ and Cindy Jenkins, Joe ‘Joey’ and Michelle Jenkins; daughters-in-law, Kristy Jenkins and Shana Gilmore Massey; grandchildren, Heather (Landon) Montgomery, Kaci, Jessica, Leah (Eric Lamont), Ashley (Alex Azra), Kara, Hailey, and Jacob Jenkins; and great-grandchildren, Garrett, Connor, and Kinlee Montgomery; Levi and Lukas Wagnon.
The family would like to extend love and a special thanks to Mrs. Bobbie Dunn, his partner in crime.
Pallbearers will be Landon Montgomery, Eric Lamont, Levi Wagnon, Lukas Wagnon, Connor Montgomery, Garrett Montgomery, and Jacob Jenkins.
The visitation will be held from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home on Sunday, March 13, 2022, and the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home on Monday, March 14, 2022. Burial will follow the service at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
