Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Joe Ervin King, 48, of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, August 03, 2015. Bro. Dwight Gary, Bro. Tommy King, and Bro. Wayne East will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. King was a graduate of Litchfield High School and played football at The University of Alabama. He had a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Thomas Edison University.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Ervin “Big Boy” King; brother, David King; and Pastor and Mentor, Bro. Phillip Ellen.
Mr. King is survived by his mother, Martha King; step-dad, Travis Lynn; son, Isaac; daughters, Jaelyn and Braylee; step-sister, Carissa Henderson; and step-brother, Dewayne Lynn.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Ford, Coach Ray Perkins, Jay Franklin, David Gregerson, Rick Findley, Blaine Galliher, Larry Don Rose, and Coach Bill McDonald.
Joe requested, in lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations be made to New Life for Women, Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, PO Box 553, Gadsden, AL 35902.
