Funeral services will 11:00 am Saturday, September 22, 2018 Collier-Butler Chapel for Jimmie Davis (Paw-Paw) age 95, of Ashville, AL, who passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Bro. Bill Davis and Bro. Shannon O’Neal will officiate. Burial will be at Gum Springs Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mr. Davis retired from Republic Steel with 37 years of service. He was a member of Bama Classic Car Club and had a lifetime of knowledge and experiences. Jimmie was a loving father and paw-paw to his children and grandchildren. He talked many times about what a good loving family and friends he was blessed with. We all know we were the ones that had the pleasure of sharing his life and the fond memories he has left us.
For years Jimmie enjoyed endless days restoring classic cars with his devoted son, Ed. He also enjoyed the care, attention and good food his daughters provided for him.
His special friends made him happy and thankful for such good friendships.
He left this world in the arms of his family that loved him dearly.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Swicegood Davis; parents, Robert and Minnie Davis; brothers, Paul, Warner, Bill and France Davis; sister, Alice Griffin; beloved grandson, Rhon Thomas; sons-in-law, Danny Mack Campbell, and Ronald Thomas.
He is survived by his son, Ed (Nancy) Davis; daughters, Joyce Thomas, Frances Campbell, Mary Levinson and son-in-law, Dan; grandchildren, Emily (Jarrett) Patterson, Vicki (Dennis) Collins, Dennis (Rana) Davis, Kristy Campbell, Alex (Krys) Levinson, and Clint (Melanie) Levinson; great-grandchildren, Cody, Allister, Sky, Hunter, Grayson Mead, Camryn, Kaitlin, Jake, Kristen, Allie Ryan, and Avery; great-great-grandchildren, Khloe, Oaklyn and Tucker; and numerous nieces and nephews whom knew him as Uncle Jim.
Pallbearers will be Robert, Paul, Jim and Raymond Griffin, Dr. John Allen, Bo and Bobby Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, great-grandsons and nephew Shorty Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gum Springs Church Cemetery Fund.
Southern Care Hospice is appreciated for their care and compassion and special thanks to the nurses and staff of Grandview Hospital ICU.
The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 am at the funeral home prior to the service.
