Mr. Jerry E. Washington

Jerrry E. Washington, age 74, went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, April 11, 2011. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, Gadsden, Alabama, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service celebrating Jerry's life will be Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Gadsden. Reverend Larry Furhman, Interim Pastor, will be officiating. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.

Jerry was born October 23, 1936, in Randolph County, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Winnie Washington and sister, Betty MacPherson. Jerry is survived by his wife, Becky Washington of 53 years, his daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Bill Nix. Jerry was blessed with three grandchildren, Lauren, Will, and Mary Grayson Nix.

Employed by Liberty National Life Insurance Company for 42 years, Jerry retired as Manager of the Gadsden District Office. Jerry was loved by many Liberty National agents. The family has been overwhelmed with calls and words of love and admiration of his life as a mentor, a steadfast friend, and a professional employer. Jerry loved golfing, fishing, spending time with his family at Lake Martin, and sharing fellowship with his church family. Jerry was a believer and would want his life to exemplify Christ.

Pallbearers will be Jerry's nephews. All Liberty National Agents will be honorary pallbearers, as well as his Sunday School Class members. As a loving, Godly man, Jerry Washington will be missed by many.
