Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Jerry Eugene Stewart, 69 of Gadsden, AL went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Entombment will be at Forrest Mausoleum. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Jerry was known for his laughter and smiles, he loved life to the fullest, and he never met a stranger. His heart and love was given unconditionally. He loved making people happy. His hobbies were fishing, gardening and spending time with his beloved puppy “Marlee”
Jerry is survived by his wife, Valinda Stewart; daughter, Tara (Curtis) Clark, son, Wesley Stewart; daughters, Sumer (Steven) Chesnut, and Jennifer (Jeremy) Williams; sisters, Carolyn (Wayne) Mize, Beverly (Gale) Slay; grandchildren, Scotty Phillips, Larry Stewart, Lizzie Chesnut, Gus Chesnut, Christy Clark, and Ben Clark; and great-grandchildren, Emmerson Nash and Sheldon Phillips.
Jerry was in law enforcement with Athens Clarke County for 26 years. He retired in 2002 as Lieutenant and Commander of the Drug Task Force for Clarke County. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and loved his church family.
We the family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Bryan McGwier and Southern Cardiovascular Associates for all their love and care.
Pallbearers will be Harold Sherrell, Mike Prater, David Stephens, Steve Hord, Russell Machen, and Wilburn Hunkapiller.
Honorary pallbearers are Randy Black and Joel Gray.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
