Graveside Service will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 2:00pm at Crestwood Cemetery.
Rev. Vince Whitttington will officiate. Guest Speaker will be Jason Talton.
Jerry was born on January 9, 1941 to James and Mae Fuller of Gadsden Alabama. After graduating high school he served in the National Guard for eight years. Afterwards he worked as a Fireman and was one of the very first Paramedics in Gadsden. He worked with the Gadsden Rescue Squad for several years prior to starting his own business. On July, 11th, 1975 he married Sherry McBrayer. Together they had four children, six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year.
Jerry owned and operated Fuller Wrecker Service for forty years. Every day for forty years he wore dark blue pants and a perfectly ironed blue button up shirt with his name embroidered in red letters on a white patch. He was a man of habit and routine. After retirement he spent every Monday and Thursday morning having breakfast with his coffee buddies at Jacks. The rest of the
day he spent working in the yard and tinkering around on different projects. His favorite spot to relax was in his brown recliner. On the bookshelf beside him was his Scanners that he kept on all the time so he could keep up with what was going on around town. Beside his radio was his orange tic tacs. Those were his and his great-grands favorite flavor. They always got a couple every time they went to see him. Only a couple each though, since those were his favorite, and since the kids came over all the time.
Jerry loved the Lord, and was a member of James Memorial Baptist Church for many years. He attended service every Sunday until his health started to decline. After Sunday dinner with the family, he quickly returned to his recliner to watch Nascar. He really enjoyed Nascar, and never missed a race. At 7:25pm every night he would have his dessert with a glass of milk. That was another thing that he never missed.
He was preceded in death by his son, Greg Fuller, parents, Hubert and Mae Fuller, brother Dewight Fuller, and sister, Doris Bolding Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Ann Fuller, children Gary (Pam) Palmer, Kay Palmer, Marty (Brenda) Fuller. Grandchildren Mindy (Mark) O’Bryant, Jaman Palmer, Nic Palmer, Cory (Haley) Fuller, Zac (Allyson) Fuller, and Adam (Maghan) Fuller.
Great-grandchildren Cole, Cale, Clete, and Cate O’Bryant, Jesse James, Ruby and Halen Palmer, Collins, Max, Wyatt, Zoey and Ella Fuller. Brother Roger Fuller, and sister Debbie (Jake) Talton.
Pallbearers will be: Jaman, Nic, and Jesse James Palmer, Mark, Cale, and Clete O’Bryant.
Honorary pallbearers will be his coffee buddies from Jacks.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home from 12:30 until 1:30pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
