Jaunita Hooks Moore, 90, of Gadsden went to be with the Lord and joined her husband Wednesday, July 17th, 2024. She was a lifelong resident of Gadsden and was born in the Hooks Lake Community. Jaunita was a member of James Memorial Baptist Church and was an honorary member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She retired from Chapter 13 Trustee's Office.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Davis Moore; parents, Coleman and Eula Hooks; sisters, Dot Minshew, Mary Jo Hayes and Margaret Booker; two brothers, Gerald Hooks and Oral Hooks; nephews, Tommy Minshew and Bobby Don Hooks; niece, Anita Lynn Hayes; and chosen daughter, Ethlyn Harrell.
Jaunita is survived by her daughter, Becky (Ron) Downey; granddaughter, Hollie Balliet; great grandson, Josh (Bianca) Cornelius; great great grandchildren, Remington and Rylan Cornelius; step granddaughter, Dana Meritt; step great granddaughter, Ashley (Landon) Cordle. Along with several nieces and nephews; chosen great grandson Jacob Tullis; and special friend, Jackie Roberson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital in memory of Jaunita.
