Hugh Elwin Cox Sr.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Hugh Elwin Cox, Sr., 69, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015. Rev. Billy Wise will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mr. Cox was a graduate of Jacksonville State University. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy and a tour in Vietnam. Hugh was a Sergeant with the Gadsden Police Department and was owner and operator of Hugh Cox Painting.

Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Frances “Fran” Cox; father, Aaron Cox; mother, Betty Frances Martin; and brother, Reggie Cox.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sherry Cox; daughters, Rose Marie Cox, and Donna Dillion; sons Hugh Elwin Cox, Jr., and David Phillips; and several grandchildren, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee Terry, Junior Ray Terry, Robert L. Terry, Gary Terry, Danny Terry, and Michael Terry.

The family will accept friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at the funeral home.
