Lathaniel entered into the arms of Jesus on Monday, February 26, 2024. He was greeted by his precious daughter, Tanya Lynn Hicks. Services will be at Collier Butler Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024, with Pastor Fred Bueto officiating. Visitation is from 12 to 2pm. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Gardens, Anniston. Family will provide music.
Lathaniel was preceded in death by his daughter, Tanya Lynn Hicks; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Weldon (Pearly Mae Taliaferro) Hicks; brother, Thermon (Ruby) Hicks; sister, Mona Sue (Bobby) Miller; and nephews; Keith Miller and Danny Hicks.
Survivors include loving wife of 31years, Beverly Hicks, Southside; son, Casey Alan (Jamie Trainor) Ledbetter, Attalla; grandson, Shelby Alan Davis-Ledbetter, Attalla; chosen granddaughter, Bethany (Chase) Bowen, Albertville; precious sister, Virginia (Jerry) Greenwood, Anniston; sister-in-law, Myra Womack, Gadsden; brother-in-law, Joe Womack, Gadsden; Nieces and Nephews, Rodney Greenwood, Anniston; Ryan Greenwood, Kentucky; Rex (Vicki) Hicks, Pensacola, FL; Priscilla Hicks, Pace, FL; Angela Hicks, Milton, FL; Susie (Roy) Bennett, Anniston; Tammy (Grant) Nichols, Heflin; Debbie Miller, Odenville; Carol (John) LeVan, Odenville; and Mark (Shannon) Womack, Horton; numerous great and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lathaniel was employed with Coca Cola Bottling Company in Anniston for 5.5 years. He retired from AT&T with 32 years’ service. He loved his part-time job driving with local dealerships and Kelly Auto Auction. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church for approx 26 years and former member of Lakeview Baptist in Oxford where he was baptized in May1959. He was a 1964 graduate of Oxford High School where he competed in all athletics and was voted most athletic in his sophomore, junior and senior class. He was a member of the first Oxford football team (1963) to defeat Anniston High School. An engraved plaque with the players’ names is displayed in the end zone at the Oxford High School stadium in honor of the team. He loved NASCAR and Auburn Football.
Pallbearers will be family members.
