Eddie was born on August 22, 1928, to Esther Cheeks Hill and Fred Hill. He was born the third son of ten children. Eddie joined the United States Army at the age of 18 and was stationed in Alaska. After serving our country as a technician, he moved back to Alabama. He married his wife, Anita, on September 3, 1949. He spent most of his life as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, and had the ability to work on and fix most anything. He enjoyed farming and gardening, always growing the best tomatoes, cantaloupes, and watermelons. In his younger days, Eddie spent every Sunday afternoon on the river, skiing and enjoying his family. At any age, he had a knack for mischief, whether it was going full speed in circles to make you fall behind the boat, or grabbing your hand and the electric fence at the same time, he was always good for a laugh. He enjoyed any reason to get together to eat, from cutting a watermelon in the backyard to gathering with family for holidays. He especially enjoyed having Jack's breakfast. Eddie enjoyed feeding the deer, turkey, and fish in his lakes. He was a member and deacon of Coosa Valley Baptist Church, and previously served as deacon at Hopewell Baptist Church and Riddles Bend Baptist Church. He set a wonderful example of humility, love, and hard work.
