Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2014, at Collier-Butler for Dorothy Lee Herring, 85, of Gadsden, who passed away February 1, 2014. Dr. Roger Beshears and Dr. Norris Hilton will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she served at various times as pianist and choir director. She retired from EMCO and Hicks Family Shoes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, parents Frank and Annie Satterfield, step-mother Bessie Satterfield, and sister Margaret Satterfield Carbonie. She is survived by her daughter Rita (Ronnie) McClure, son Tim, grandsons Allan (Heather) McClure, Adam Herring, sisters Jean Nappi, Evelyn Koski, Frankie Self, sister-in-law Mary Rains, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Carey Herring, David Herring, Craig Heald, Jim Womack, Steve Guest, and Fletcher Ray. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Lloyd Heald and Deacons of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Alacare hospice nurse Becky Cantrell and staff, Dr. Ralph Wesley and staff. A special thanks to her caregivers Darlene Reed, Shelia Daniel, and Mary Shirey for taking such good care of our mother.
Visitation will be Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service.
