Doris Eileen Cook Cash was born in Sylva, North Carolina on March 10, 1938. She went to be with her Lord in heaven on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Doris had resided in Gadsden, Alabama since she was eighteen years old. She was an active member of East Gadsden Baptist Church. To all who knew her she lived her Christianity in a daily walk with Christ. She left a legacy of grace and kindness. Doris served on the Board of Directors of Northeast Etowah Community Center. She was a frequent volunteer for fundraising endeavors, and monthly meetings at the Community Center. Doris was a Master Gardener, and she truly enjoyed the beauty in nature.
Doris had three daughters, Linda Sue Van Ornum (Craig), Brenda Fay Junior (Michael), and Sheila Ruth Freeman (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Allison Galbreath, Abigail Junior, Jason Junior, Jaime Freeman Parker, and Dustin Freeman; and eight great grandchildren.
Doris was predeceased in death by her husband Edward Harold Cash; parents, James Marcus Cook and Eva Ireland Jenkins; brothers, Charles Cook and Bill Cook; and sister, Annie Ruth Powell.
Doris was loving and generous to her children and grandchildren. She encouraged them to achieve their goals, and to reach their fullest potential in life. She was the epitome of what a mother should be. She will be missed greatly, and in many ways by all who knew her.
A private memorial service will be held to honor her life. Rev. Jason Ellen will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
