Donna Helms Dodd

Donna Helms Dodd of Ballplay, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 18, 2022, with her husband and son by her side, holding her hand. A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, September 21,2022, at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel. Donna's brother, Randy Helms, will officiate. Burial will follow at Union #3 Cemetery. The family will accept friends from 11:00AM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Donna was born on November 19, 1963, in Gadsden, Alabama. Donna was preceded in death by her grandparents,Marshall and Nettie Rich; grandmother, Lois Beler Helms; brother, Darren Westbrook; and her uncle, Larry Rich.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Marion Dodd; son, Jeremy (Jennifer) Dodd; grandsons, Blake and Brandon Dodd; granddaughter, Penelope Dodd; father, Roy Helms (Jan); mother, Marie Gaskey; brothers, Rodney Helms (Vickey) and Randy Helms (Rachel); sister, Kim Gaskey; and her beloved pets, her babies, Ruger and Darcy.

Donna was a kindergarten teacher for many years. She loved the outdoors and going camping, especially to the Smokey Mountains. Donna was happiest when she was taking a road trip with Marion and her puppies. She loved reading and studying God's word and singing for her Jesus.

Pallbearers will be Marion Dodd, Jeremy Dodd, Rodney Helms, Randy Helms, Keith Long, and Dustin Freeman.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the ER nurses and the nurses from the MICU unit of Gadsden Regional Hospital.
