Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Gum Springs Baptist Church for Claydis Thompson, 74, of Ashville, who passed away at home on Friday, December 11, 2015. Bro. C. Cornutt, Bro. J. Jones and Bro. B. Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Thompson was a Deacon of Gum Springs Baptist church. He was the owner of TNT Construction Company and a longtime resident of St. Clair County. He loved his family and friends, and above all he loved his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clint Thompson; mother, Mintia Mae (Jester) Thompson; brothers, J.C. Thompson and Ira Thompson; grandson, Kyle Thompson-Hanson; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Lucille Wilson; and brother-in-law, Frank (Bert) Wilson.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pauline Wilson Thompson; son, Wayne (Vanessa) Thompson; daughter, Pamela (Lemuel) Goss; grandchildren, Dakota Thompson-Hanson, SPC. John Claydis Goss (214 MP Company, Deployed), Madison Goss, Caleb Goss, and Madeline Goss; great-grandchild, Jackson Robinson; brother, Dennis (Barbara) Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews, beloved cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Thompson, Dakota Thompson-Hanson. Lemuel Goss, Doug Hanson, Gene Hanner and Brian Stokes.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
Special thanks to his nurses and nursing assistants from Amedisys Hospice; and to our church family and Pastors from Gum Springs Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
