Charles “Lee” Stewart, age 91, of Guntersville, Alabama passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at his residence. Lee was born July 8,1930 in Gadsden, Alabama, where he obtained his high school degree. He then continued his education at Jacksonville State University in Business.
There is one thing we know, Lee loved his country. He spent his military career in the United States Air Force. He was employed by the U.S. Army Missile Command where he retired as a System Analyst Project Manager on the Pershing Missile project. He was also a part of several groups to include the Republican Presidential Task Force, Alabama representative of the Republican Presidential Roundtable, Military Order of the Stars and Bars, Sons of Confederate Veterans, The Elks and many more.
Lee married the love of his life, Vera Silvey Stewart, on Christmas Eve 1958. In their 50+ years of marriage, there is one thing Lee never did, beat Vera in golf! They had a true love for the sport. Lee and Vera went on to have three sons Charlie, Davis and Barry Stewart three granddaughters Hannah Smith, Haley Sanders and Tori Coil along with three great-grandchildren Bentley, Aubrey and Harlee.
In Lee’s later years he re-established his love for Art and Writing. He wrote many articles for “Old Huntsville”, a nostalgic publication. Lee also recently completed his one and only novel, that his family plans to publish summer of 2022.
Lee will always be remembered as a man with a story.
