Graveside services for Ms. Carolyn Stewart Mayo, age 70, of Gadsden, will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Forrest Cemetery in Gadsden. The Rev. Roy Cordle will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services, directing.
Ms. Mayo was a graduate of Glencoe High School and a member of both Louis Street Baptist Church and Crosspoint Community Church. She loved and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. She was a beloved mother and the spiritual leader of the family.
Ms. Mayo is survived by her daughters, Christy (Chris) Yocum of Gadsden, and Benita (Dave) Sawyer of Atlanta; grandchildren, Cy Yocum, Colby Yocum, Tyler Sawyer, and Camrea Sawyer; and a special cousin, Charlotte, of Gadsden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Nellie Stewart.
At the request of Ms. Mayo, there will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coosa Christian School.
