Byron was a lifelong resident of Etowah County and a member of James Memorial Baptist Church. In 1988 he married the love of his life, Amyotha, and together they raised their incredibly beautiful, sweet daughter, Hannah.
Byron was a graduate of Coosa Christian High School and attended Gadsden State Community College. For many years he sat behind the counter of Hudak Paint where he was store manager. He was a dedicated, Loyal, and faithful employee. This is where he also met many people that would become lifelong friends. His close friends at the store knew his as “the Paint Doctor” because of his uncanny ability to exactly match a color with the naked eye.
He was an avid collector of guns and any tactical gear. He also loved playing golf and watching Alabama football. During football season he was a sideline coach for the Crimson Tide in the family living room, with loud outbursts when they did not do exactly what he wanted them to. Amyotha finally learned not to speak to him during those critical plays, or she would be asked to leave the field.
He loved golf outings with his buddies and enjoyed life every moment he could when he was able bodied.
Music was always a part of his soul. He loved all genres; U2, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica and even some country to mention a few.
He was a Jeopardy Champion in his own living room. He would scream out the answers before anyone else had a chance. His answers were always right.
He loved all animals, especially his dogs, Cosmo and Fat Maggie. He could tell you anything you wanted to know about any breed of dog.
Byron loved his friends. He was a true and loyal friend. He enjoyed those moments with them and cherished the lifelong friendships he had made. He had a quick and sometimes sarcastic wit. He was constantly making everyone laugh and enjoy the time they spent with him.
Above all, Byron loved his family. He was a dedicated family man. He worked hard for everything he had. He would go to work whether he was sick or well. Finally, near the end, he was no longer able to work as his body was wearing down. He fought death all the way to the finish and he never gave up.
He loved his wife Amyotha with a fierce and dedicated passion. His daughter Hannah was his loved and cherished princess. She would call him every day on her way to or from work and it made him so happy. For many years he was a protector and provider for the two women left in his life. When Hannah brought him the news he was going to be a Pop Pop his life became even better than ever! He loved Sweet Caroline, his only granddaughter, to the Moon and back. He faced timed her most every night. Nothing made him happier Than Seeing that little girl. He was so proud of Hannah and all her accomplishments. He was happy in the knowledge she had found a wonderful husband in Austin.
He loved his nephew, Matthew Turner. He would aggravate him like a brother but loved him like a son. He also loved Matthew’s Children like they were his own and was so proud of the life Matthew had made with Bethany. He could call on Matthew for anything and he would come to help, no matter how small or large the problem. He could always count on Matthew and for that he was grateful.
Byron loved his Lord and Savior. He was never ashamed to acknowledge God before others. He prayed everyday that God would give him Strength and God answered him daily.
Given the physical blows dealt to him, people were amazed at his demeanor. He accepted everything he was given, dealt with it, and came back even stronger. Most men would have crumbled.
He was an amazing man, husband, father, Pop Pop, and friend. He will be severely missed by all who knew and loved him.
