Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Christ Central Methodist Church for Bobby Lee Cochran, 84, of Rainbow City who passed away Monday, September 15, 2014. Rev. Sherri Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Cochran was a native of Gadsden and a faithful member of Christ Central Methodist Church where he served as a head usher and on the board of stewards. He was a graduate of Jacksonville State University. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was employed for 38 years by Goodyear Distribution Center. Upon his retirement in 1987 he began working as a bailiff for Circuit Judge William H. Rhea III.
His hobbies included bowling, fishing, coin and knife collecting, he also enjoyed golfing with his buddies at the Goodyear and River Trace golf courses. He was a member of the Gadsden Civitan Club and founder of the Noccalula Knife Club.
Mr. Cochran was preceded in death by is parents, M.W. and Pansy Hall Cochran.
Left to cherish his memory, he is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary Molloy Cochran, whom he called his “sweetheart”; daughters, Marilyn Joyce Cochran (Russell) Boutell, Martinez, CA, and Leigh Anne Cochran (Marty) Reynolds, Hokes Bluff, AL; grandchildren, Nicole Leigh Boutell (Jared) Kitchen, Natalie Molloy Boutell, Martinez, CA; and Logan Lee Reynolds, Hokes Bluff, AL; great-grandchildren, Dillon Russell and Emma Louise Kitchen, Martinez, CA and many friends and family.
Special thanks to our caregivers who not only cared for him but loved him, Patsy Sharpton, Arlie, Melanee, Tiffanie, Jennifer, Deborah, Laura, Roxie, Patricia, Joyce and Gloria…we called them “Arlie’s Angles.” Special thanks also to Gentivia Hospice; Dr. Fernandez and his nurses; Endo Lab; Super Bee Pharmacy; Riverview Regional Medical Center; and Dr. Harper.
Pallbearers will be Buford Bowers, Judge Bill Rhea, Marty Reynolds, Richard Reynolds, Logan Reynolds, and John Minton.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Christ Central Methodist Church, 409 West Grand Ave, Rainbow City, AL 35906.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
