Billy Gale Lankford, age 84, of Rainbow City, AL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 21, 2022. He was reunited with his loving wife of 55 years. He is now healed and rejoicing in Heaven with countless friends and family. A home going service will be held at 12:30PM on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Cary Herring will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lankford graduated from Hokes Bluff High School. He attended the LSU School of Banking. Billy served as Staff Sergeant in the Air National Guard, was vice president of American National Bank, president of the Kiwansas Club, Member of the Lion’s Club, Credit manager at A-1 Exterminating/Insulating, and a Deacon at Bellevue Baptist Church.
He was a devoted Christian who loved his family very much. He enjoyed yard work and making sure it was neatly manicured. His grandchildren and daughters were his pride and joy.
Mr. Lankford was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Lankford; son, Gregory Scott Lankford; mother, Maedell Lankford; and father, Eldred Lankford.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Tina (Lee) Herring of Huntsville, and Heather (Tim) Staton of Rainbow City. Grandchildren, Hallie Herring, and McKenzie and Ava Staton; brother, Ladale (Charlotte) Lankford of Southside; sisters-in-law, Mary Anne Gargus of Huntsville, and Joy Morrow of Alexandria; and brother-in-law, Ken Elkins of Atlanta. His extended family includes many precious nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Lankford, Roger VanGilder, Larry Honea, Donald Wright, Eddie Wrenn, and Harry McLendon.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Riverview and Amedisys Hospice and Home Health.
The family will accept friends from 11:00AM until the hour of the service at the funeral home on Monday.
