Funeral services will be 2:00 Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Betty Ashley Whitten. Rev. Thurman Ragan will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Betty Whitten, 73 of Gadsden, answered the call to go home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be truly missed by all that knew her.She worked in home healthcare for many years and had a loving heart and loved to help others. She liked making flower arrangements, gardening, fishing, and Alabama Football.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Louann (Cary) Humphrey; 2 grandchildren, Brook (Josh) Johnson, and Blaine (Kirstin) Humphrey; 5 great-grandchildren: Noah, Kristina and Kylie Johnson, and Corey and Logan Humphrey; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Whitten; granddaughter, Ashley Holladay-Humphrey; parents, Delia and John Ashley; 3 brothers, and 7 sisters.
Pallbearers will be: Cary Humphrey, Josh Johnson, Charlie McGraw, Jimmy Bates, Randy Bates, and Terry Vaughn.
The family would like to give special thanks to Comfort Care Hospice for their wonderful and loving care and services provided. And special thanks to Freida Hester, Tonya Brown, Cheryl Lyles, Brandi Vance, Charlie McGraw and Vickie Miller.
The family will receive friends for 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 and from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 prior to the service.
