Betty A. Riley, age 83, of Southside, passed away, Tuesday, May 18, 2021. The funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 22, at Collier-Butler Chapel in Gadsden. Reverend Randy Green will officiate with Betty’s pastor, Reverend Dale Butler. Interment will follow at Green’s Family Cemetery in Southside. Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Betty loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart, and she loved God’s word. Over the last several years, dear to her heart is the special friends and church family of Valley Baptist Church, Glencoe. Betty excelled in everything from academics, balancing raising a family, and working outside the home. At Southside High School, she was awarded Valedictorian for the Class of 1956 and served SHS as an office worker. In her work with manufacturing supervision across Health Tex, Bobbie Brooks, and Stephenson’s Wiretronick’s, all that worked with Betty knew well her excellent work ethic, determination, and loyalty.
Betty is survived by her son Michael Keith Riley (Trellys); son-in-law, Russell Uesry, grandchildren, Joshua Riley (Eileen) of Broomfield, CO, Clay Riley of Boston, MA, Hailey Uesry of Pleasant Valley, AL, Mack, Marshall, and Maudie Mae Morris of LaGrange, GA, brothers and sister Carl (Marijane), Joyce Green, Redgie (Virginia), Marion (Nancy) Green, and Susie (Paul) Stephenson, nieces and nephews Freda Erwin, Rick Noah, Ellen Cooper, Randy Green, Greg Green, Amy Green, Ronnie Green, Cindy Conner, Joey Green, Johnny Green, Kevin Green, Lori Smith, Lisa Cook, Stanley Green, Sonya Birtnell, Len Thomason, Sammi Stephenson, Whitney Cloer, and Jolie Roberts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Riley, daughter, Daphane Uesry, parents Walker and Millie Green, sister Faye Green, brothers Bob Green, and Wayne Green, nephew Johnny Green.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Riley, Clay Riley, Mack Morris, Marshall Morris, Rick Noah, and Wesley Roberts. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.collier-butler.com
