Betty Jean Ragan

Betty Jean Scott Ragan, 73, of Gadsden, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James D. Ragan, and her parents, Billy and Arnold Scott. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Michael Smith and Kelly (James) Carter; her grandchildren, Kylan and Amy, Braylee and Blake, and Caden and Blake; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Arlie, Ivy, and Edyn. Betty is also survived by her brother, Larry Scott, and her sister, Donna Hamrick.

Betty’s kind spirit and love for her family were felt by all who were fortunate to cross her path. She was a constant source of strength and love, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Pallbearers Michael Smith, James Carter, Kylan Smith, Blake Owens, Blake Reeves, and Lane Putnam. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Scott and Wayne Quinn.

A visitation for Betty will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Alabama 35901, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.

Betty will be laid to rest in Kyuka Baptist Church Cemetery, 2145 Horton Gap Rd, Attalla, AL 35954.
