Betty Daniel Pruett, age 86, of Gadsden, AL passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Rev. Matt Alexander and Rev. Wayne Hostetter will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden, AL. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Betty was a Christian. She loved her Lord and always tried to motivate others to follow Him. She was faithfully committed to her churches; first, Forrest Avenue Baptist Church, then Dwight Baptist Church, and later First Baptist Church of Gadsden. She served her church in many capacities including the music program and operation Christmas child. Betty was a school teacher, first at General Forrest Jr. High School and then Emma Sansom High School, for 30 plus years. Seeing and hearing from her former students brought much joy to her life since retirement. She was loyal to her friends and enjoyed traveling, eating out, and going to the movies with them. Betty was an avid Alabama fan and loved her Crimson Tide football.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon A. Pruett; and chosen son, Carl Head.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly (Scott) Moore; grandson, William Moore; chosen children and grandchildren, Wayne and Elizabeth Hostetter, Karen and Lydia, Allen and Carol Hudson, Chad and Holly, and Gail Head and Trey, Emily and Brian; sister-in-law, Juanita Daniel; nephew, Steve (Barbara) Daniel; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved so much.
Pallbearers will be Scott Moore, William Moore, Jeff Atkins, Trent Atkins, John Sharpton, and Jerry Rogers.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gadsden.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Kindred Hospice, Dr. Layla Wren, Lydia Hostetter Watkins, and John Sharpton.
The family will accept friends from noon until the hour of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
