Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Arnold Ray Thornton, Jr. age 72, of Gadsden, AL who passed away Monday, February 8, 2016. Rev. Joey Hanner will officiate. Burial will be at Union #3 Cemetery.
Mr. Thornton attended Livingston State College. He was a member of Union #3 Baptist Church, Masons, and Shriners. Mr. Thornton farmed for 10 years and was owner of Thornton Lake Cloth Barn and Thornton Lake Interior Store.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Ray Thornton, Sr.; Mother Ruby Brannon Thornton; and brother, Harry Winston Thornton.
Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife, Jeanne Keahey Thornton; son, Arnold Ray Thornton, III; daughter, Leith Thornton Moring; son-in-law, Todd Moring; granddaughter, McKenzie Moring; sister, Lucy Miles; and brother, James Thornton.
Pallbearers will be Bob Keahey, Chip Keahey, Taylor Spears, Ken Thomas, Bob Thomas, Bobby Godfrey, Johnny Floyd, and Murray McBurnett.
Honorary pallbearers are the Saturday Morning Breakfast Crew; Roger Massey; and Benny Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union #3 Baptist Church, International Mission Fund , 8765 Centre Rd, Gadsden, Al 35903.
