Funeral services for Anna Geneva (Collins) Owens (101) of Gadsden, AL who passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, will be Saturday, July 17 at 12:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler chapel. Dr. Charles Owens will officiate. Interment will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Geneva was born in Ardmore, TN, on May 13, 1920 to James and Eva Collins. She was married to Rev. S. Paul Owens, Sr. for 65 years before his death in 2002. She and her husband owned and operated Owens Dept. Store in East Gadsden for 38 years. She was active and faithful in church and served most of her life as Sunday School teacher as well as church pianist and organist. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Somerville, AL.
Preceding her in death were her husband (Paul), parents (James and Eva Collins), brothers Wayne, Hilliard, and Robert (Bob) Collins, sons James A., S. Paul Jr., and Robert E. (Bob), grandchildren Cindy Owens Slate and Tobye Owens Jones.
Survivors include her brother J.C. Collins (Scottsboro), children Nancy Fields (Ray) of Attalla, Dr. Charles Owens (Patricia) of Somerville, AL, grandchildren Susie Eads (Bobby), Paul Owens III (Della), Mary Beth Morris (John), Paula Knight (Joel), Robert Owens (Anna), Stephen Fields (Jennifer), Paul Fields (Ali), Amanda House (Dorsey), Jessica Wimberley (Chris), Charles Owens II (Meghan), Harrel Owens (Heather), 27 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family extends a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care and all the special caregivers who were so faithful and kind.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
