Walter was born to Elwood and Freda (Dillon) Martin on April 2, 1933 in Callaway County, MO. He married Betty Ann Higgins on December 22, 1951 who preceded him in death on June 5, 2017. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Fulton, MO, served in the United States Army, Korean War. He operated Champlin Station in Fulton, owned and operated Northside Texaco, hauled grain for farmers, was a life-long farmer and later retired from MFA Bulk Plant as Manager in Fulton. He was a friend to many and his favorite thing in life was helping others.
Survivors include: his children, Debbie Autenrieth (Phil), Darrell Martin (Shelby) and Jeff Martin (Vicky); grandchildren, Melissa Autenrieth (Johnathan Read), Vince Martin (Shantell), Chris Martin (Kim), Carmin Pritchett (Chris), Aaron Martin (Periann Reinert); great-grandchildren, Addi and Jax Martin, Colton and Kaylee Pritchett, Rachelle and Brooke Miller, Kaedon and Kyela Macon. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Clifford, Boyd and Kenny Martin and one sister, Norma Pasley.
Graveside service and full military honors will be on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 11:00 am at Callaway Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bruce Williamson and Pastor Guy Thomas officiating.
