Ray and I grew up together, I lived on Cherokee Lane and he lived just over on the next street.  We had some good times running around the neighborhood, playing hide go seek, or some other childhood games.  As we got older I remember he would ride with me at night in my car and he had this light that look kind of like a police car light.  We would get behind people that we knew or at least thought we knew and turn on that light.  They would pull over and we would pull up beside them and gesture some things then speed off.  Ray got such a kick out of that, and of course so did I.  Even after I moved out of state in 89 we kept in some what touch. I wish now I would have looked him up more when I came back in town which by the way is very little.  Ray my friend, you will always have a place in my heart.  Keep that light cleaned up and we will ride again someday.

Ray ; you were such a unique individual with the biggest heart ever.  You never missed an opportunity to ask about how someone else was! I will miss our visits and seeing you all over town. If more people were like you just a little the World would be a better place. I know you are walking or riding in a much better place !  I hope to see you down the road sometime. Keep riding hard  . Cuz 🚴‍♂️

You got to love him! You must! What a guy ! Energy, driven and always a joy! That’s the Ray Payne I knew! Didn’t see much drama from Ray,..oh no! He was as sincere as they come! My fav memory of Ray is him always asking about my sister, Martha, living in Arizona! She was teaching at Fulton high school in the early 70’s and Ray was one of her students! He was always so nice to her! I’ll miss him,..we all will miss him! Ray was ,….Ray! Love ya buddy & and the Lords got a bike also,…ride on brother,…ride on!

In the 70’s Ray would be out and about on the weekends hanging out at the burger joints and takin it easy with the guys and girls parked in the center of the town parking lot where they would be showing their cool cars and sitting in their hot rods for all of us to admire who were driving around.
 It’s sad to see of Rays passing.

Ray always spoke when we saw us. If we weren't together he would ask about the other.  He always talked about "baby girl" aka Jana.  He will be missed.

Ray will be missed and never missed talking with me. I live on corner of bradley and chippewa he would stop in my driveway and talk.  He was seen wherever I went and like I said always stopped to talk. He would co.me to the house to collect for relay for life and we visited awhile. Everyone in town knew Ray. He will be missed. Rest in peace .
 

the small town of Fulton will miss you so much as you were always so friendly to everyone you met.  Ray will be always in the hearts of anyone who had the privilege to have a conversation with him. may peace follow him.

Going to miss Ray!  The occasional ride when the weather was bad.  The many talks and joking around.  This town won't be the same without him.

I always saw Ray riding his bike or walking around town but didn’t actually meet him personally until I started doing my laundry at Sunshine Laundry several years ago.  One time my daughter brought my granddaughter to the laundromat and sat with me for awhile. Whenever Ray would see me he always asked about them. My granddaughter will be 13 in a few months, I think she was about a year old when he met them.  Rest In Peace Ray.

Ray was such a nice man. He would stop by my office at Vogel- Guerrant Insurance and just talk about everything with me. Then, he would be on his bike, riding by the office and stop in front and wait until I looked up from my desk, just so he could smile and wave. I am so sorry for the family's loss. Heaven has definitely gained an angel.

Gonna miss my buddy Ray. I saw him at my uncle's visitation just minutes before the accident. Known him  40-some years. He went to the races with my dad when I was a kid, went with me lots of times when I raced over the years. I've given him and his bicycle countless rides around town over the years. Always a pleasure to spend time with him, and talk racing.......or women. Lol. He was quite the character! I'm going to miss seeing my friend walking through town. We all loved him. God bless you Ray.

Ray was just that a ray of sunshine to every one , never did i see him in a bad  mood ever . He like to visit all of us at the dollar tree and we are deeply saddened .  It won’t be the same with out him !!! Rest in peace my friend ! Go fly high !!!! We will truly miss Ray.  In the summer we set up on the Tractor Supply parking lot.  Ray was always the first to stop by and visit with us..  He would bring me the morning paper with a big smile.  He knew my whole family and he would ask about each one.  Rest in peace Ray. Everytime I would see Ray in town, he would ask about my little brother and my mother...and I seen him alot. I lost my brother late last year so I hope they've met up and rode their bikes together. There were a few occasions where he would see me in Wal Mart, and proceeded to tell everyone around I was his wife. He actually told my mom he wanted to marry me lol.  It always made me smile because he was always so cheerful and did whatever kookie antic he could to make someone laugh...I'll miss these moments the most.

Ray would always stop by my place of work to talk. The last time he stopped by he brought me a Christmas card. He always was aware of who had passed away and if I had seen some of their family. 
The Cancer Walk was his baby, hard telling how many dollars he helped raise.  Rest In Peace Ray.

Ray would always come in to Tractor supply co and ask how my day was going at work he always had a smile on his face and always could make you laugh...He well be missed ...Heaven just gained a sweet 😇...God bless his family...

We lived on the corner of Anthony Street and he would talk to my boys when they were little playing in the front yard. I have known Ray all my life, he taught me how to ride a 10 speed bike when I was a little girl and didn't even get mad when I couldn't work the brakes to stop it and crashed into my grandpa's car.   Lol through the years I would see him with the Blackburns and through town.  Everyone in town knows Ray or knew of him.  He will be sorely missed by many.  Rest in Peace Ray.  Now you can go to all the races you want to! I am sure you are catching up with Gary Sr and your momma, brother and Randy and others that have gone before us.  

Ray was always helpful to anyone,  you never had to ask for help if he saw you needed assistance he came with a smile. You never had to say thank you because he felt like it was his calling to help anyone no matter what the situation was. My husband just spoke to Ray about an hour before this happened,  he said Ray was talking his ear off with a big smile on his face. I never seen anyone but Ray who would ride his bicycle no matter what the weather was. I always wondered how he got the strength to ride that bike everywhere in Fulton, I always wondered how many pairs of shoes Ray went through with all the walking and cycling he did on a daily basis. 🙂. We send our condolences to his family, we'll sure miss him hanging out in Walmart ready to help anyone in need. May God give you comfort knowing how much the community will miss seeing him all over town. May God give your heart peace at this difficult time.  We'll miss seeing you on your bike Ray!!😥💔

I remember Ray riding his bike everywhere. He was a nice man. My sincerest sympathy to his family.

Ray was always quick to smile and saw a friend in everyone he met. I have learned that Relay for Life was a big deal to Ray, and I know his enthusiasm fueled the cause in Fulton. With our loss, heaven just got sweeter! Till we meet again.
