Peggy Marie Bryant Baker 86, of Columbia passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 17, 1925 to the late James W. and Delores Lee (Grimm) Bryant.
She graduated from Fulton High School and attended Chillicothe Business College. After moving to Hannibal, Missouri, and when her children were school age, Peggy went to work as a secretary at Park Methodist Church. After working as a secretary at Levering Hospital, she moved to Columbia, Mo. in 1971 as secretary to the Director of Data Processing Services. After 21 years, she retired as Administrative Associate to the Director of Computer Services at the University Hospital.
She leaves behind four children, Roy E. (Linda) Baker of Colleyville, Tx., Ann (Chuck) Breeding of Ankeny, Ia., Vicki (Pat) Humphrey of Quincy, Il., and David (Peggy) Baker of High Ridge, Mo.; grandchildren Eddie (Alicia) Baker of Frisco, Tx., Chris (Shanna) Baker of Keller, Tx., Jeff (Jonnah) Breeding and Kristi (Kurt) Bogseth from Ankeny, Ia., Misty (Doug) Brunier, Cathy (Phil) Miller, Jennifer Humphrey, Molly (Steve) Brown, all from Quincy, Il., Amanda (Matt) Sanders, of Bloomington, Il., Gina Baker Blocker and Bryan Baker of Oran, Mo., twenty-eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Martin of Fulton and Frances (Bill) Deuel of Columbia; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Means and great granddaughter, Lillian Faith Brown.
A memorial service will be held on March 3, 2012 at 2 pm at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the time of service.
