Opal was born on September 5, 1935 in Dixie, MO the daughter of William and Maude (Richardson) Butcher who preceded her in death. On November 17, 1951 in Fulton, MO she was united in marriage to Richard W Salmons who preceded her in death on October 5, 2013. She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Church. She worked as a security guard at the Fulton State Hospital until her retirement in May of 1995. After retirement, she enjoyed going to garage sales and spending countless hours with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ellen Pendergras of Fulton, MO; one son, Scott Salmons (Karla) of Silex, MO; sister-in-law, Thelma Morris (Kenny); nine grandchildren, Tyler Salmons (Shelia), Amy Balassone (Rick), Crystal Luna (Dwight), Brandon Salmons (Lindsay), Taylor Kairos (James), Heather Drum (Dylan), Hunter Salmons, Annika Salmons and Tucker Salmons; 20 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Richard Salmons and Michael Salmons; son-in-law, Emmett Pendergras; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Debo Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Walter Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Carmel Cemetery, Fulton, MO.
