Montie was born on October 25, 1942 in Fulton, MO the son of Montie Sr and Irene (Bramon) Fennel who preceded him in death. In 1960 he graduated from Fulton High School and then joined the US Navy, where he served on one of the destroyers who intercepted the Russian missiles during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was married in 1966 in Columbia, MO to Connie (Smarr) Fennel who preceded him in death in 2004. He then was married in 2007 in Fulton, MO to Suzanne (Staggs) Fennel who preceded him in death in 2018. Montie worked for the Ovid Bell Press in Fulton, MO as a pressman, retiring after 38 years. He was a faithful member of the Court Street Methodist Church, VFW Post #2657, where he held various offices including the past Commander and was also a member of the American Legion Post #5 in Jefferson City, MO. He was very grateful to have gotten the chance to attend the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
Survivors include: one brother, Rick Fennel (Mary) of Fulton, MO; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Shepherd (Bill), Kristi Head (Cliff), Jefferson Fetters and Michelle McKensie and numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia (Trish) Fetters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from Noon – 1:00 pm at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, MO. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
