Mamie Newsom

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 at the funeral home.

Mamie was born on December 28, 1934 to James and Gladys Davis Kirk and they preceded her in death. She was married to E.J. Newsom and he preceded her in death.

Mamie wanted to be active and she enjoyed walking, bicycle riding, boating, canoeing and dancing but her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She had worked at Fulton State Hospital until her retirement in 2004.

Mamie is survived by her six children, Elizabeth (Dave) Wilmsmeyer of Warrenton, Missouri, Roger Newsom of Jefferson City, Missouri, Polly (Bill) Shipley of Collierville, Tennessee, Walter (Rita) Newsom of Warrenton, Missouri, Debbie Scoggins of Shawnee, Kansas and Richard (Chris) Newsom of Platte City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, James and Robert Newsom and seven siblings.

Mamie’s family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to all her medical team, doctors, Page Robbins Adult Day Care Center and Baptist Trinity Hospice. A special thanks to her caregiver,Bobbie Robertson and her long time volunteer,Sue Tutt.
