Lenord Odell Bohannon, 96, Fulton, MO passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Valley Park North in Fulton, MO. He left for his Heavenly home surrounded by his family and the staff who had become family to him at Valley Park.
Lenord was born on August 5, 1923 in Atlas, AR the son of Euggie Irtle and Effie Eunice (Savage) Bohannon who preceded him in death. On August 3, 1946 he married Mary Elizabeth (Hargrove) Bohannon in Oakland, CA who preceded him in death on March 7, 2014. He obtained his Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1954.
Lenord worked as the Chief Accountant at Fulton State Hospital, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving from 1942-1945 working in the forward echelon, preparing for the arrival of replacement troops as they came in. After retirement, Lenord enjoyed doing volunteer work, working in his yard, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. He also loved to watch Cardinal baseball or most any kind of sports.
Survivors include: one daughter, Michelle Bohannon Yahnig (Ed) of New Bloomfield, MO; one grandson, Caleb Yahnig (fiancé, Kayleen Frazier) of Jefferson City, MO; and two brothers, Gene Bohannon (Betty) of Sikeston, MO and John Bohannon (Margaret Ann) of Sikeston, MO. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William “Alton” Bohannon and Herbert “Tuffy” Bohannon.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton MO. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 am on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the funeral home with Rev. Guy Thomas officiating. Entombment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, MO with full military honors.
