Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Southside Baptist Church, 501 S. Business 54 in Fulton. Entombment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Julia was born April 19, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri to Charlie and Amanda Foster Arney, who preceded her in death. She was married to Waller Christian on June 7, 1953, at Armour Heights Baptist Church in Kansas City. He preceded her in death in 2010.
She was a graduate of Ruhl-Hartman High School in Kansas City and had worked as a secretary for the Missouri Baptist Association in Jefferson City and William Woods University in Fulton. She also worked for nineteen years as the Principal's Secretary at North Callaway High School until her retirement.
Julia was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church in Fulton where she was involved with the Girl's Auxiliary and the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a member of Missouri Association of Educational Secretaries and the Gideon's Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed piecing quilts and traveling, but her greatest love was spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's sporting and school activities.
Julia is survived by her son, David (Neva) Christian of Bloomington, Illinois; daughter, Julie (Stephen) Zvacek of Lee's Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Doug (Jessica) Zvacek of Lee's Summit, Beth (Rob) Chapman of Liberty Township, Ohio, Katie Zvacek and her fiancée Andrew Snow of Kansas City, Missouri, Leah Christian of Richardson, Texas, Tanner Christian and his fiancée McCall Christopher of Terre Haute, Indiana and Mackenzie Christian of Bloomington, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jeffrey, June and Sam along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 501 S. Business 54, Fulton, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Debo Funeral Home.
