Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Mike Crowson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
John was born to Lulu Opal Comingore Allen and Robert Elijah Allen on November 30, 1929.
He served his country first as a Merchant Marine and later in the U.S. Army. John was an Iron Worker by trade a loyal member of Ironworkers Local #396.
John “J.J.” was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert L. Allen, Charles E. Allen, Julian A. Allen, Kenneth A. Wilkinson, Sherman L. Wilkinson and Wesley T. Wilkinson; sisters, Vivien Consegan, Jenness Griffen and Rose Wiseman; son Charles E. Allen; step-sons, Joseph Cooper and Gary Jett; step-daughter, Debbie Jett and his first wife, Alice G. Bain Allen.
John is survived by his “life partner” and wife of many years, Mildred Allen; daughter, Mary Lou Barnes of Fulton; step-children, Laura Gilbert of Fulton, Carolyn (Rooster) Stuckenschneider of Martinsburg, Missouri, Evelyn (Joe) Hunn of Independence, Missouri, Wanda Hawkins of Jefferson City, Missouri and Wayne (Teresa) Jett of Fulton; brother, Harry (Sherry) Wilkinson of Blue Springs, Missouri; sisters, Alice Capps of Columbia, Missouri, Margie Wilkinson of Fulton and Minnie (Steven Witte) Humphrey of Fulton along with numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren, especially Courtney Barnes of Fulton. He loved his cat "Boots". He was well loved! May he rest in peace.
