Helen was born on December 4, 1929, in Fulton, MO the daughter of Thomas and Ruth (Gathright) Hampton who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Fulton High School in 1948. On July 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gene West at the First Christian Church in Fulton, MO who preceded her in death on August 14, 2021. She retired in 1990 from Ovid Bell Press in Fulton, MO as a typesetter. After retirement, Gene and Helen traveled extensively and enjoyed playing cards and games with the family and was an avid bowler. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society and Fulton Garden Club. Helen’s most important role was wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include: two daughters, Marcia Jacobi (David) of St. Louis, MO and Nancy White (Mark) of Lee’s Summit, MO; six grandchildren, David Jacobi (Mary), Aimee Jacobi, Andrew White (Sarah), Megan Seaney (Kyle), David White and Ania Zarazee (Zach); 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Hampton and one sister, Pearl Douglas.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, MO. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
