Cotton was born on September 1, 1930 in Nebo, IL the son of JW Bob and Ruth (Durall) Vaughan who preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the US Army, earning rank as Sergeant. On November 7, 1958 in Columbia, MO he was united in marriage to Dorothy “Dot” (Salmons) Vaughan who preceded him in death on December 6, 2019. Cotton and Dot went everywhere together, they were faithful members of Hopewell Baptist Church in New Bloomfield and enjoyed watching their grandchildren, Summer and Bo play sports. He worked for Missouri Department of Revenue in Jefferson City for many years. In 2007, he retired as the agent from Shelter Insurance in Fulton, MO. Cotton loved watching dirt track racing and riding the backroads where he grew up and telling stories of his past. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include: one son, Vance Vaughan of Fulton, MO; one daughter, Tonya Dean of Jefferson City, MO; two grandchildren, Summer Hunter (Derek) and Bo Dean (Brooke) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Duff and numerous brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Debo Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Dr. Bobby Snow officiating. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, MO with full military honors.
