He was united in marriage to Juanita Faye Reed on September 10, 1949 in Jefferson City. She survives at their home.
Elwood proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army during World War II. He worked in food service at Fulton State Hospital for 29 years and 11 months, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed time outdoors coon hunting, fishing and tending to his large garden. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Along with his wife of 62 years, he will be fondly remembered by his son, William Kenneth Morris and his wife Thelma of Fulton; sister, Julia Pearl Salmons of Fulton; grandson, Robby Morris and wife Crystal of Fulton; granddaughter, Camille Morris-David of Fulton; great grandchildren Nathan Morris and significant other Ashley Atterberry, Charles McClelland and significant other Katyln Murphy, Jonathan Morris, and Emily David; great-great grandchild, Allie Michelle Morris; and a special niece, Anna Ruth Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Charlie Morris; and sister, Virginia Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Mike Crowson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with repast following at Calvary Baptist Church in Fulton.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm on Friday, June 22, 2012 at the funeral home.
In lieu of customary memorials, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Elwood’s name to the American Cancer Society, c/o Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, MO 65251.
