Bill was born on March 10, 1952 in Mexico, MO the son of Oscar Phillip and Ida Marie (Krysl) Klund who preceded him in death. He graduated from South Callaway High School. He farmed alongside his father for 15 years on their family farm. Bill worked for Daniel International where he and his fellow crew members were called the “Molemen” as they rammed the high-pressure pipe from the Callaway Nuclear Plant to the Missouri River underground. Bill later retired from the State of Missouri Office of Administration after 27 years and from Jefferson City Public Schools after 10 years.
On May 26, 1979, Bill was united in marriage to Connie L. Newberry in Mountain Grove, MO. Bill took great pride in preparing and planting his garden each year. It brought him great joy to share his vegetables with neighbors, friends, and family. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting for deer, quail, and squirrel as well as fishing for trout and crappie. Among Bill’s favorite activities was trout fishing at Montauk State Park. Bill also enjoyed crafting walking sticks and canes from sassafras wood and generously gave them to others.
Survivors include: his wife of 45 years, Connie Klund of the home; two sons, Dason Klund (Barb) of Jamestown, MO and Kerry Klund (Erica) of Jackson, MO; one step-daughter, Michell Love (John) of Jefferson City, MO; eight grandchildren, Jayden Klund, Chayce Klund, Keeley Klund, Kolton Klund, Cauy Love (Kayla), Bryce Love, Lane Huntsman and Hannah Huntsman; one great-granddaughter, Emerson Love; one sister, Carole Texier and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a step-son, and his mother and father-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, MO. Funeral service will follow at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Pastor Russell Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery near Readsville, MO.
