William Edwin Drake

William Edwin, “Bill” Drake of San Clemente, CA passed away on Saturday evening November 10, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family and friends.  He was born on July 24, 1923 to Helen (Nelson) and Alva Drake in Minneapolis, MN.  He was the second of four children and was preceded in death by his older brother Nelson and his younger sister and brother, Patricia and Robert.  He enlisted in Marines in 1942 and went through boot camp in San Diego, CA.  After the war, he returned to CA where he met and married the love of his life Rozell Pounds.  The couple were blessed with three children, Stephanie (deceased), William Jr., wife Karen (Lay) and daughter Rozell Alford, husband Steve Alford.  He had five grand-children, Kristen Garrison (deceased), Brett Garrison, David Drake, Sarah (Cole) Feinman and Melissa Cole.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much.  Bill worked as an Insurance Casualty Manager in Los Angeles before becoming a full time real estate investor.  Bill was known for his warm sense of humor, integrity, love of family and friends, and his love of the outdoors, bridge and golf.
