Ronnie attended the University of Cape Town, where he studied computer science and mathematics. He graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science in 1972. His career was mostly working in computers, which led to him working in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Swaziland, and Minneapolis, ultimately resulting in the family relocating to California.
He was passionate about all things related to flying. In South Africa he regularly flew gliders and was a glider pilot instructor at his local airfield. After moving to California he obtained his private pilot’s license. He was able to make a few trips to the Oshkosh Airshow in Wisconsin. He also liked to travel and his most recent trips were to the Panama canal via cruise ship, and to Toronto where he was able to see one of the few remaining working Lancaster aircraft.
After retiring, Ronnie volunteered with the St. Jude cancer infusion center for a few years and was an active member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Ronnie is survived by his wife Valerie, his son Bruce, his daughter Terri and his beloved grandson Magnus. He is also survived by his brother Keith and his step-sister Gaye.
A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Fullerton, on Sunday March 16th, at 4pm.
