Mary Carol Bullard, long time Fullerton California resident, passed away peacefully on October 20,two days shy of her 80th birthday. Mary was born among cotton and pecan fields in Las Cruces,New Mexico, but gold rush fever quickly took her to the orange groves of California.Mary always knew her love would be teaching. Mary completed educational degrees from NewMexico State University and taught briefly in New Mexico before moving to California where shetaught at schools in Buena Park. Mary was loved and respected by her students and parents andreceived many awards during her time as a teacher. In 1995, Mary was named Teacher of the yearat Buena Park’s Emery Elementary School.Mary was a world traveler, with trips to Europe, Africa, South America, Alaska, China and HongKong. She was an accomplished photographer, and captured and shared her travels with othersthrough wonderful albums and slideshows.Music filled many of Mary’s days. With her flute held high, she marched in school bands andorchestras through her college years. For many years she played with the Fullerton CommunityOrchestra.Everyone knew Mary’s house and its wonderful succulent gardens, with its roots from the FullertonArboretum.Mary was the daughter of Dillard Bullard and Virginia Netherwood, both deceased, and the brotherof Dillard Bullard Jr. also deceased. Mary’s surviving brother is Jim Bullard, with wife Gail, ofCorrales, New Mexico. She also leaves three nephews, Steve in San Diego, Mark in Midway, Utah,and Robert in Sacramento, and niece Lauren, also in Sacramento. Mary was very close to specialfriends Joe Davila and family, and neighbors Gay and Keith Walker.In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests donations be made to a charity of the donorschoosing.A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 20, at 2:00 PM at McAulay &Wallace Funeral Home, 902 N Harbor Blvd, Fullerton, CA 92832.
