In Loving Memory of Lyle Donovan Perrigo III
November 17,1968 – May 13, 2024
Lyle ‘Van’ Perrigo, III was born to Dalene and Lyle Perrigo, II on November 17, 1968 in Richland, Washington. He was the third child of four. After spending his elementary years in Washington participating in 4H club, Lyle’s father moved the family to Anchorage, Alaska.
At 13 yrs old, he embraced all outdoor activities: hiking, camping, cross country skiing, and was a consummate scholar athlete. While attending Robert Service High School, he became a state champion swimmer, while also participating in the Honor Society, Wilderness Skills Club and Pep Clubs. He graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1987.
At Stanford University, he joined Army ROTC and majored in Industrial Engineering and was active in his church and his fraternity, DKE. He loved the guitar and would never refuse a pick up game of ultimate frisbee, broom ball or basketball. He graduated in 1991 with a BS in Industrial Engineering and earned his MS in Engineering Economic Systems in 1992.
He began his career In the military as Lieutenant Perrigo and was stationed at Camp Darby army base in Pisa Italy. He immersed himself in Italian culture, learning to cook and singing in an Italian chorale. Prior to his honorable discharge, he was promoted to Captain. He returned to civilian life in the Bay Area; while working at Raytheon and Chip Shot, he attended night school and earned his MBA from Haas School of Business 2001.
Though they were in the same class at Stanford University, Myriam and Lyle did not meet until their 5 year reunion. It wasn’t until the wedding of their best friends, Amy and Jason Yotopoulos, three years later that love blossomed. After they married in October 2002, they made their home in Placentia, CA, and were blessed with three beautiful children.
Lyle had a rich and rewarding career in operations consulting and leadership roles in manufacturing, logistics and IT. He joined McKenna Labs in 2019 and was promoted to Executive Vice President one year later. He cherished his time at McKenna Labs primarily because of the deep friendships and family camaraderie. He worked there until the day of his passing.
Van was known for his kindness, good humor, and bringing out the best in people. He enjoyed competing in triathlons, scuba diving, singing in choirs, participating in his men’s group, and being the resident chef to his family. He is survived by his wife Myriam, and his children Christopher, Sage and Emma, as well as his mother, Dalene Perrigo, brother Dale, and sisters Juliann and Susan.
