John was born on December 19, 1953, in Garden City, Kansas to Paul McMillan and Ruth McMillan who preceded him in death, as well as his wife, Rosanne Collea McMillan; sister Kathleen (McMillan) Kaiser and Father-in-Law Frank Collea.
When John was in elementary school, his family relocated to Anaheim, California where he graduated from Magnolia High School. He was the Senior Class President. John met his wife Rosanne in a bowling league and was in love. They married in 1986. Shortly after John and Ro married, they were blessed with two wonderful children Elizabeth and Maxwell.
John loved being a dad. He wanted to be known as the dad who was always available for his children. When his wife Rosanne passed away in 2010, John became a single Dad. He was a rock for his children. John was also a character. His infectious laugh was totally recognizable. He loved telling what he thought was a great joke. He considered himself the King of great stories and useless trivia. He was passionate and highly opinionated. He was unique – he was John.
John worked in Materials Management for St. Joseph Hospital, UCLA Medical Center and Paradise Valley Hospital for most of his career. He was the first to recommend the best doctors, hospitals and deals with his inside knowledge.
John came from a large family of nine children. He was the sixth in line.
John is survived by his two children, Elizabeth McMillan and Maxwell McMillan. His siblings, Dan (Marlene) McMillan, Jim (Margie) McMillan, Bob (Betty) McMillan, Pam Brusuelas, Colleen (Dirk) Wilder, Maryanne (Mike) Martinez, and Jeanne (Phil) Termath.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Fullerton, California, on August 9, 2024, at 10 AM.
