A visitation for Joanne will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, October 23, 2023 at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832. A funeral mass will occur 12:30 PM Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at La Purisima Catholic Church 11712 Hewes St., Orange Ca. 92869. A graveside service will occur 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 7845 E Santiago Canyon RD, Orange, CA 92866.
Joanne was born in Rochester, New York to Salvatore and Julia DiTavi on August 30th, 1934. She attended school at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School in New York. Later, she was ordained a minister of the Gospel.
In her early years of ministry, she faithfully trod the world assisting her daughter in the founding of Breath of the Spirit Ministries. She baptized hundreds of indigenous people in Nigeria and smuggled Bibles into China numerous times. She soothed Lepers and was known for the working of miracles through her prayers.
Later, she founded the global ministry, Christ in You the Hope of Glory, in which she continued her international work and preaching of the Gospel to multiple nations. Dr. Joanne Petronella impacted the lives of many presidents and world leaders. Notably, she was selected by her close friend Mother Teresa of Calcutta to lead a retreat for the Missionaries of Charity.
Joanne is preceded in death by her mother, Julia DiTavi, her father Salvatore “Sam” DiTavi, her spouse Pete Petronella, and her son Victor Petronella.
Joanne is survived by her children Dr. Michelle Corral, George Petronella, Michael Constantine, Dr. Rick Petronella, and Lisa Stough, and her grandchildren Rose, Joel, Starr, David, Ryan, Mikey, Bethany,Chelsea, Jordan, Logan, Michael, Clarke, and Brianna, 18 great grandchildren, two great-greatgrandchildren, and her beloved dog Bella.
Pallbearers will be Joel Corral, David Stough, Ryan Petronella, Michael Petronella,
Michael Constantine, David Chacon, and JoJo Corral. Preceded by Benjamin and Beau Caesar. Followed by Samuel Caesar and Ezekiel Zielinski.
Memorials may be given to her eldest granddaughter, Rose Sharon Chacon.
The family of Joanne wishes to extend our sincere thank you to her beloved caregivers who poured themselves out for her, especially in her time of transition into eternity.
