Maj. James R. Kearns USMC (Ret.) April 29, 1934 – August 5, 2017 Born to Ralph Rollin and Artist Almeda Kearns in Dover, Ohio in 1934. Jim grew up in Dover where he graduated Dover High School in 1952 before attending Bowling Green State University. He was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in 1956. Jim proudly served in the Marine Corps reserve until retirement as a Major after 20 years of service. He married his beautiful wife Beverly Ann Grattan in November 1959 and became the loving Father of three children. The family made their home of 45 years in the city of Yorba Linda where he actively participated in his children’s schools and community sports leagues acting as coach, manager and even player. He was a very loyal and courageous man. Loyal to his country as a lifelong Marine, loyal to his family and loyal to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a mentor and a devoted friend. Jim is preceded in death by his wife Beverly of 53 years and his grandson James Keith. He is survived by his mother Artist and brother Richard: his daughter Jamie R. Carl and husband John. Sons: Jeffrey R. Kearns and girlfriend Norma, Robert F. Kearns and wife Sarah, Grandchildren; Jason Skendrovich and wife Chelsey, Lindsay Lamb and husband Justin, Jeffrey Jr. and wife Heather, Matthew Richmond and wife Sabrina, Ashley Kearns, Bella Kearns, and Mia Chavez; Great-grandchildren; Jason Jared, Autumn, Rawlin, Carter and Iyan. Public viewing will be on 8/17/17 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 18311 Lemon Dr, Yorba Linda, CA 92886 Committal and Burial will take place on 8/18/17 at 9:00am at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA 92122 In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Injured Marine-Semper Fi Fund , Bldg H49, Camp Pendleton North, CA 92055.
