Jacinta (Jay) Placencia Herrera died peacefully in her sleep at her home on December 22, 2016 at age 93. Jacinta was born on September 11,1923 in Anaheim Ca. She was the daughter of Theodoro Placencia and Luciana Navarro Placencia. Jacinta is survived by 4 children. Irene Uriarte, Charlie Herrera, Rick Herrera and Lucy Herrera, son Salvador Jr. predeceased her in 1979. Jacinta has 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 7 great- great grandchildren. In 1940 Jay married Salvador R. Herrera, they lived in Anaheim and Fullerton. They moved to Fullerton in 1956, where Jacinta lived until her death. In Jay's retirement years she traveled extensively throughout Europe as well as visiting the holy land with St. Mary's church. She was a faithful and involved parishioner at St. Mary's for over 60 years. In that time she volunteered to teach CCD to ensure young parishioners were ready for their first communion. Jay was also a Eucharistic minister, her outreach helped so many elderly and infirmed receive communion when they could not attend church. Her charity work did not stop there. Jay was a member of St. Vincent de Paul ministry. She was mostly devoted to the neo-catechumenate and the Young Ladies Institute, a catholic women's charity for 29 years. In later years as Jay fell into the depths of dementia she forgot many things, but never lost her love for people her family and best of all hers sense of humor. Jay loved to sing and did so until her final weeks. Jacinta led a tremendous life and will be deeply missed.Viewing will be 5 PM - 8 PM with a rosary at 7 PM on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, Fullerton. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fullerton. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange. Reception to take place back at St. Mary's Catholic Church after the burial.
