Harry was born July 9, 1934 in Duluth, Minnesota. He spent his childhood in Minnesota, Florida, and finally Springfield, Missouri.
“Gibber” attended Drury College in Springfield, where his father was the Dean, which may explain why he graduated in 3 years! He completed Medical School at Northwestern University in Chicago where he graduated in 1959 as the top student in his class.
Harry completed his medical residency in Los Angeles and later moved to Fullerton where he and several other partners established Fullerton Orthopedic Medical Group.
In 1966, Harry was called to service in the US Navy and served two years as the Commanding Officer of a MASH unit in Vietnam, earning the nickname “ Gung-Ho Gibson” along with the trust and admiration of his staff for his humor and dedication.
Harry returned to Fullerton in 1968 where he raised his family and was a prominent member of the medical community known for his knowledge, kindness, and caring nature. He was instrumental in the formation of the St. Jude Hospital Pain Management Clinic and a highly sought-after spine surgeon, even caring for the Shah of Iran.
Harry is survived by his wife, Sharyn, daughters Cynthia Hutchison (Fred) and Deborah Clark (Jim), and son Lane Gibson (Sue) and sister Mary Murdock. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Lauren Beaumarchais (Pete), Jacob Hutchison, Ryan Clark, Brianna Clark, and David Gibson, and one great-grandchild, Jaxson Beaumarchais.
