Florence Sarah Cooksley was born on July 7, 1923, and left this world to be with Jesus on November 8, 2018. The smile on her face as she passed from her temporary life to her eternal life will stay in our hearts forever. In her lifetime Florence was blessed to be a daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born and raised in Endicott, New York. Her parents were William J. and Carolyn Cooksley. She had an older sister, Jeanette, and two younger siblings, Jean and William Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In the mid-forties she moved west to California There she met Max Norris of Colfax, Iowa. The story of this romance was told often; Florence and her friends were at a club when Max came and asked her to dance. When she hesitated, her friend said, "It's just one dance, you don't have to marry him!" Florence and Max were married in Endicott on February 1, 1947. Their marriage lasted 63 years and was only broken by Max's departure to heaven. Florence was employed for 30 years as an auto scheduler for Ford Motor Company. After retirement in 1989, her and Max moved to Tucson, Arizona where they remained until 2010 when Max went to be with the Lord. She then moved back to California to be near family for her remaining years. She has two surviving daughters, Carolyn D'Amico of Yorba Linda, CA. and Colette Turpin of Lillian, Alabama. She also is survived by her son-in-laws; Tony and Roland, grandchildren; Shawn, Aaron, Lauren, and Jared, and great-grandchildren; Justice, Stevie, Brooklynn, Kole, and Sawyer. Florence will always be remembered for her generosity to all, her gift of hospitality and making everyone feel welcome, and of course, her funny antics. She will be missed tremendously...our loss is heaven's gain.
